    Re: Property in NZ

We bought our first house for nine years wages and sold it for fourteen years wages so that was worth it. But we bought our house because we were tired of paying rent and the repayments amounted to...

I would agree with you Bryan. Looks like a thrush to me. The speckled chest is the giveaway.

    Re: Black Friday

But at least she's our Queen and that's why we celebrate with a holiday, unlike Black Friday which has no relevance to New Zealand at all.:illogical

    Re: Black Friday

It's not the sale I object to, it's the reason why we are having the sale. What has American Black Friday got to do with New Zealand?

    Thank you for that Smithie.

So what has that got to do with us? We don't have a Thanksgiving holiday - I don't even know what that is - so why do we have a Black Friday when we don't have...

    Why is it so?

Have you noticed the ads on the telly lately for hair straighteners?

Why is it that women with curly hair want straight hair and women with straight hair want curly hair? It's insane!:groan:

Re: How to remove water stains off tiles

We tried using 30 second spot remover again - applied it to the stain and left it for half an hour then scrubbed it off and that has worked. It seems that the answer is to leave it on for a while.

That is what we have tried. The stains are fairly old so I will continue trying over the next week. I have used this on the bathroom successfully and then added the sealer. Thanks for your...

    SWMBO has retired

We used to be up at 6 for SWMBO to catch the train to work in town. Now it's about 7 or 7.30. The big advantage is there is time for a cuddle (not a euphemism) in the morning. :clap

    The other big...

    A pronunciation question

How do you write a word when you want to tell the reader how to pronounce it? For example, the word blessed. You can say that you are blessed with a lovely family, or you can speak about the blessed...
  20. Re: How to clear an air lock in a gas system in a motorhome

I made certain the gas stove and the fridge were turned off and then disconnected from the gas bottle and reconnected again. It took a little while and I thought for a minute that that was not the...
  21. Re: How to clear an air lock in a gas system in a motorhome

Thanks for that, Prefect. I'll give that a go today and let you know. And yes, the bottle is full.
  22. How to clear an air lock in a gas system in a motorhome

I'm suspecting an air lock in the gas system as we have a full gas bottle, the bottle is switched on, but no gas at the stove.

Will someone please tell me what to do to clear an airlock....
  23. Specsavers: "We could all do with a spare pair."

Specsavers ad on the radio is saying, "We could all do with a spare pair." That is, of course, if you can afford it. Prescription glasses cost about $700. Can you afford to have a spare $700 just...
  24. Re: Why would you subscribe to Sky - unless you are mad on sport?

But I can do that with You Tube - usually every day. Even if you want to watch something in particular, like a series or something. I can't see the advantage of Sky.

Re: Wellington Trams - a question.

As far as I am aware, yes they are. They have the two types of Wellington trams, the faducia and the open saloon (called the toaster ).
