Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Mine took two attempts, but eventually went in smoothly.
I do like the new "Windows Tools" folder. It looks like a descendant of the "God Mode" folder.

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Thanks WT - I'd totally forgotten to check. Downloading now. Reading the blog there seems to be a bit of refinement plus a whole lot of bug fixes.

    Re: water blaster recommendations please

Thanks for all that - very interesting and useful. I have actually bought a Husqvarna (see earlier post), so let's hope it works out OK.

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

That's why we have the tracing app, to try and make sure it doesn't.

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

I think you are being overly optimistic. If as your handle says, you are an "old guy" (as am I), then I think your chances of being severely affected are considerably greater than 1%.

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

I don't think I'm worried enough about it to go that far. Certainly an option though.

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

I'm not sure what brought all that on. My original question (did you read it?) was to do with aspects of the covid scanning app and the bluetooth activation. I certainly wasn't question its validity...

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

I don't claim to know how the apps work, but I could guess that "retrieve running apps" means it can see if the scanner/bluetooth app is going so it can exchange data (as it is designed to do). "View...

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

I'm not sure that "retrieve" and "view" necessarily imply "record".

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

Sorry WT, I should have looked at the link properly. It explicitly says "You do not have to have the app open for it to work.".
So that wraps all that up!

    An unexpected visitor

The joys of living in the bush. This handsome thing was sitting on my kitchen bench when I came down this morning.

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

Well, yes, it works in the background, but there has to be some computing going on, and my question is, how is that initiated? Does it only work (in the background) while the Covid app is active, or...

Re: covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

That may be so, but I am sure I have seen people with a phone showing the QR code on the screen when it is clearly not the scanner app operating.

I note nobody has been able to answer my second...

covid19 scanner app and bluetooth questions

I am usually pretty careful about scanning in everywhere (apart from today when I accidentally left my phone at home - d'oh!) I have a couple of questions:

Am I the only person who's app seems to...

Re: What have you owned for 20yrs and still using?
