My build is going to be definitely nice-to-have rather than must do.
That is about what I was planning to do anyway. However when I have a potential bill for several thousand dollars on the horizon I think it is better to hold off for a bit.
Thanks everyone for the advice, but it looks like the project is going to be on the back burner for a while.
I've just been told my worm farm septic system is falling apart and is no longer...
Thanks Piroska, that's all good stuff.
I will check Tom's hardware; that is usually good advice.
Here is my current config:
Mobo: ASUS A88XPLUS
CPU: 4.13 gigahertz AMD A8-7650K Radeon R7
RAM: 8 gig
Display adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750
Disks: Several - mix of SSD and HDD
As you can see,...
So when is AM5 expected?
You say pricing will be competitive with Intel, but it is likely to be more expensive than AM4 - right?
I've been an AMD person for a long time, for no particular reason...
OK, how/where do I compare chipsets?
Yes, I enjoy the process of assembling and building, together with the satisfaction of doing it myself.
I have to say I am very tempted to just get an off the shelf system from PBtech or somewhere. It's just that I have a case and a power supply and it seems a pity not to re-use them.
I was going to ask about the chipset. What are the differences I should look out for?
Biuilding - grrr! Where is spellcheck when you need it?
I certainly don't change my hardware very often, so maybe the 5700 is the way to go. What made you choose Gigabyte?
I'm starting on the project of building a new PC, and I'm a bit stuck on what mobo I should get. You look at PB tech or Ascent and there are pages of motherboards.
My requirements are fairly simple....
I've done it. I've shifted to the Beta channel, so it's no more dodgy Dev builds from now on. I'll miss the excitement, but since I lost my WHS machine I need a more stable platform available as a...
Living on the edge, baby! (or Firefox in my case.)
Preview Build 22581 came down the wire yesterday, but I've only just got round to posting.
This build is actually being released to the beta channel as well, and you are given the chance to do a...
I think you've hit the nail on the head. There is certainly not the thrill of seeing totally new stuff or knowing the whole PC might collapse in front of you. The hardware requirements don't help,...
Preview Build 22579 downloading now. It has actually been out for a couple of days. Have we all lost our enthusiasm?
Here is what is happening: ...
Good to hear a robust opinion, even if in my case it would be totally impractical.
Let's not get too far OT - please? :)
Build 22572 downloading now. Here is everything that is happening:

If you look at the cubii website there seem to be several models. Would you be able to identify the one you were offered?
No pun received because the word is actually "peddled" :)
At Cubii.com they range from $269 - $329, but I suspect that is USD. That would be the absolute max that I would want to pay.
There is also...
I'm thinking that if it is under the desk it will become easy and automatic. (I can dream, can't I?)
I always liked the rowing machine back in the day when I actually went to the gym. The reason I...
I agree with everything you say. I also have doubts about the comfort/effectiveness. I do own an exercycle but I find too may excuses not to use it. I'm really looking to not feel so guilty about...
Are these any good? I'm thinking of trying to not feel so slothful for sitting at the PC for so long.
The prices vary hugely - $50 to $1000+.
Any personal experiences?
