Re: When should I go from Win 10 to Win 11?

I've installed Windows 11 on a VM and had a bit of a look, but not extensively.

I actually like its interface a lot more than the horrendous Windows 8/10 bodge of half classic UI and half mobile...

    Re: TV SERIES SEVERANCE

Another option is to rent it from the library.

They have many T.V. shows and the prices are better than the old video rental places used to be.

The only problem is you obviously have to wait...

    Re: Anyone delt with

If it's not available then sure, that's the only way to go.

But sometimes for the convenience of local warranty repair etc, it's better to buy in NZ even if it costs a bit more.

    Re: TV SERIES SEVERANCE

If a show is on broadcast T.V. where I could watch it for free anyway, I'll download it instead to avoid the mind-numbing advertising.

Either way, nobody's getting a cent from my viewing, so the...

    Re: Anyone delt with

Even if they ship to you OK, another problem is what if you need warranty work?

Do you have to send it back to Italy?

Will Uniden NZ handle it, or deny responsibility because you purchased...

Re: Where to buy 4mm thick plywood?

Thanks, I did try vice grips on the one that I could reach, but they just slip off when I try to turn it. The head already broke off as it was severely rusted.

The other does have a head but is in...

Re: Where to buy 4mm thick plywood?

I actually managed to clean up and fix the original piece pretty well. The only problem is the two bad screws left in the cabinet.

Not that I need to remove them, I could install new ones...

Re: Who gets their Marching Orders?

The same bureaucracy that designed and built fancy train station shelters on the West Auckland line in the '90s with grand arcing roofs that faced the prevailing wind and became a giant air scoop for...

Funny they never seem to think to ask if the public actually *want* these things, before wasting the money on it.

  15. Re: The Gordie Howe International $54B Bridge

He wanted to retain his monopoly with his bridge, which includes the duty-free shops that he owns there.

If another bridge opened, there'd be less potential customers crossing his bridge. They...

Re: There is always an excuse......

In my experience (And I've had a lot of stuff delivered via various couriers) NZ Post are actually the only ones that get the job done quickly and reliably, most of the time.

Re: Where to buy 4mm thick plywood?

Thanks everyone, I'll look into it.

Would prefer plywood or other with an actual grain, as this will be oiled or varnished, not painted.

Yes it's a backing board thing but will still get seen...

Where to buy 4mm thick plywood?

I am in need of some 4mm thick plywood to finish a woodworking project.

I did have a suitable piece originally, but due to storage in poor conditions over years it has gone moldy, and had to be...
  20. Re: Evs and "saving our environment" in Herald

Sure, let's save the environment with vehicles that are unsupported for battery replacement in 5 years and will end up in the junkyard much earlier than they should.

Re: What AV programme do you recommend?

    That's why I like Comodo's Defence+ HIPS.

    Re: Win 10, can't install

    Or some driver incompatibility.

Some older laptops can have real weird hardware setups that won't work with anything but the OEM drivers.
  23. Re: Can I listen to the TV soundtrack on my PC?

Well, a digital TV and a digital tuner and two different things.
There are many older LCD and Plasma TVs which only have old VHF/UHF tuners (I have one like that), and don't have digital tuners, so...

  25. Re: Can I listen to the TV soundtrack on my PC?

I'm confused - what exactly are you watching on your T.V. and where does the signal come from, and how is it connected?

I find it hard to imagine any modern T.V. with a digital tuner would only...
