    for any computer product there is a point on the curve of price vs performance where the value is greatest. i7 is past that point, so the extra performance/expense would have to be justified.

    Same here in the manuals ive seen. Perhaps you could force them to pay it for not giving fair warning? It doesnt void the warranty. I guess it depends if a bios upgrade is 'normal' use or not.

    We found some sort of electricians equipment with a crank on it once,gave it a test. Think we saw it hit 50v while cranking,not pleasant
