There's been rumours of this for a while now for a number of places in the world.

Maybe, just maybe, if a global scale vaccination could be pushed out to a large percentage of the worlds population we could conceivably purge the virus from us... but there remains 2 major issues - lots of the poorer, more isolated, less developed (less educated / ignorant / suspicious) countries / states / sects / cultures could remain stubborn pockets where they resist taking up the vaccine. OR we might find that other critters have become hosts for the virus, and continue to pass it on to humans ad infinitum.
But yeah, if / when it recombines with other pathogens that inhabit humans... if it becomes less of an issue, we all relax and catch it, or it gets even more dangerous, and we get a major global population correction, and live under a veil of fear.

The good news is , if an old fatty like Trump can survive covid , most of us would survive covid .
