Yeah call centers are a great place to gain experience and insight into corporate worlds. Well worth doing a stint there for anybody in IT.
@pctek,
Grats, it's awesome to get a payrise and be rewarded like that, no matter how small! :)

Yeah...I didn't expect it, had been told payrises were a rare occurrence.......all good.
We bought another company - Hosting Direct - most of it anyway, and took their support guy, I think he got paid more than us, and of course they had to keep him on that, not drop his.
The company i work for last gave a cost of living payrise of 2% about 6 years ago. Nothing since even though we heard that last year was their best record for years but we suspect that the money is going across the ditch to subsidize a loss making operation over there..
yeah, system administration is in support i guess,
Maybe support yeah .. but companies use names loosely. Just b/c the job is called a Sys Admin, there's diff types of it. Would that be the same for a big govt dept or Telecom or Alcatel?
If out of uni, you want a Sys Admin role, sure you may heard your university tutor got one, yep, but they got head hunted on campus because they were a top honours/masters student. And they might be working for a big international IT firm.
