Re: Printer Manufacturers are
Don't buy a Canon Inktank. There's a Printer Maintenance Tank deep inside this thing that can only be replaced by Canon and not the end user according to the printer review sites. The Printer Maintenance Tank for the Epson is end user replaceable and costs NZ$16.

This one reason I wont touch inkjets, to much waste on some.
BTW only being sarcastic :D about the canon, as for epsons, suppliers wont touch them now -- gotta be a good reason for that.

my canon inkjet stopped printing because it decided the waste pad needed to be replaced ... after less than 2 reams of printing !!!!!
being xmas hols at the time , everything was closed so had to spend HOURS to find the hack to reset the waste counter , just so i could print a few color pages
Of course , there was no way canon would let you know the waste reset secret procedure.
2 weeks later it went into the bin .
I'll never buy another canon inkjet . They waste more ink than another other brand , with cleaning cycles .
Re: Printer Manufacturers are
I think most inkjets are very much the same nowadays. That's why I dump my last HP. The ink just dries up...
I am now having Brother MFC-L2713DW laser mono. So far so good.

Sigh...I print A LOT. They never dry up for me.
Laser...no difference, cost per page is what matters, and most (except possibly Wainuis one) do bugger all pages per toner. And the toners are not cheap.
Also I need colour....so no. No happy solution there.

Horses for courses. For your use it is obvious that ink drying out is not a problem and cost per page is a major consideration. I on the other hand rarely print out hard copies of anything and when I do I could not care less what it costs. The net result of that is that my Laser which does not dry out and is always ready when required without going through a head cleaning cycle is ideal for me.
