I have been using WhatsApp for a long time, it always work fine, until just now ...
When I clicked on WhatsApp, nothing happens.
I uninstalled and re-installed, still couldn't open.. It was OK earlier today.
Restarted Windows .. no joy.
Could it be Win 10's latest update, 20H2 causing the problem?
WhatsApp Web works fine, though.
Any suggestions?

Hadn't used mine for while... it asked for upgrade/reinstall scanned qcode again and away it went ok

Just installed it from the Store and it opened fine, (Latest Version W10 20H2) don't have my phone handy OR even have it on the phone, but it was all ready to accept the phone.
Have any other Programs been installed, removed , altered between working and not working ?
I did uninstalled and re downloaded the latest version but still, it doesn't open. From my previous experiences, immediately after installing, it opens and asked to scan the QR code. But now, it doesn't open at all.
I repeated several times with the same results. I have also used the Windows Store App for version Win10-20H2, same results.
I tried to install it on 2 of my other PCs, both Win10, one with version 20H2 and the other with version 2004 produced exactly the same results: doesn't open for me to scan the QR code Towards the end of the installation process, it just remains 'silent' ...
I was thinking probably it's WhatsApp problem, but then,both of you, wainuitech and cowboy stu experienced no issues from your ends.
Just reconfirm, wainuitech and cowboy stu, you are installing the WhatsApp for Windows and not WhatsApp for Web? I could use Web version ok, without issue.
yep whatsap for win here( installed in programs).. latest win10 updates
Just uninstalled it and reinstall the App from MS Store.

When I click Launch, nothing happens. It's not opening! Exactly the same thing from my other 2 PCs
Weird.
Downloaded the one I installed from the Microsoft Store ( same one as you pictured). Installed and opened as its been mentioned with a qcode waiting. Didn't go any further as I dont use it at all so its not on my phone.

When yours fails to open is there any error message or simply nothing happens ?
Just a thought -- Don't have any security software Blocking or anything along those lines ? (My Eset Security pops up asking to allow.)
You can try running the basic fixes just in case there's some sort of Corruption. BUT if its doing it on two OS's then theres something possibly causing it on both (some program)
Basic Commands to look for any problems - In a CMD as Admin -- sfc /scannow then dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
No error message, just nothing happens.
I have only Nod32 Anti-virus installed. I have been using WhatsApp for the past several years, everyday, without any problem.
My other 2 PCs are having the exact thing. I have just repeated installing on all of my PCs with exact results.
The other 2 PCs are more or less fresh installs of Win10, hardly has anything on them, other than Firefox installed; and hardly use them.
Just tried to install on a Win10 ver 2004 laptop with same results...
