1080 vs 1260 resolution

Not sure of my terminology here but I have some movies that are what I guess is 1260 resolution (1260 in the title) and the all play jerky in VLC. Some have a 1080 (1080 in title)version and they play fine in VLC.
Have tried other programs Chrome, ACDC. with same result.
Anyone know how to play them without the problem or a program that will convert them to 1080.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.

What sort of PC and are VLC and your graphics drivers up to date?

It's usually not the resolution that is the issue but rather what kind of codec has been used for the recording. For example an Xvid AC3 1080 recording will play on just about anything but a 10 bit H265 will not.
It's because some older hardware doesn't have built in decoding acceleration for some codecs.

Anyway handbrake will re encode to standard 1080 MP4 which should play for you. It may take a long time though.

PC is HP. Not sure of model but Processor is AMD A6-7310 APU with Radeon R4 Graphics 2.00 GHz
Vlc is latest update.
Will give Handbrake a run.

I would try this player first, get the portable version if you don't want to install and select the correct version for your o/s, 32 or 64 bit, I have always found VLC to be over-rated and giving scrappy playback depending on version, also slow to load:

Giving HB a test. Will try your suggestion as HB takes a while and if your suggestion plays out of the box then no need to convert.

Media Player classic is no longer being updated. While it still works there is no more development being done on it. Also if you do get it go to the official site and Not majorgeeks.

Are you sure it’s not 2160? Ie 4k. Which is about 4 times higher resolution than 1080p

This is Media Player Classic (MPC-HC) 1.9.6, HC = Home Theater and a new team have just taken over.
