for some reason recently, my laptop has been using 80-100% cpu and 60-80% hdd usage, for at least 10 mins after i log in. which as you could imagine slows things down considerably.

have run malwarebytes antimalware. going to run ccleaner and probably spybot. i use comodo internet security for antivirus and firewall.

system is AMD athlon x2-64 2ghz, so its dual core. have 2GB ram and a 250GB HDD with 108Gb free, running Vista Home Premium. shall see how ccleaner goes.

having a look at the task manager and resource monitor it seems IDT PC audio is using 48% or more of the CPU for some reason. an update might fix this, or probably caused it.

Post a HiJack This log file here.

The antivirus part of Comodo Internet Security is hopeless.

Remove the Comodo AV, and install something lighter such as Avast (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html)

Download PC Decrapifier (http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/files/pc-decrapifier-2.0.0.exe) and run it. let it remove all the crapware that came with your PC

Next, download and save HijackThis to your desktop, then run it.
Copy and paste the logfile it produces here.

As for IDT PC audio using a large chunk of CPU, it seems this is a known problem and most laptop manufacturers have offered a fix for this.

If you are using an HP laptop then this (http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/OTHER-SOUNDCARDS/HP-IDT-HD-Audio-CODEC-Driver-61061460-Rev-A.shtml) is the update
