View Full Version : How to delete Cookie index Dat file?

Can someone help me please with advice on how to delete the refrences in the Cookie Index Dat file. I remember something about it being done in DOS but have forgotten how to do this. I'm running Windows ME. Help would be greaty appreciated.

Index.dat can be deleted from the DOS prompt however in Win ME, the ability to restart you computer in DOS mode has been removed. Restart your computer using a windows boot disk, at the DOS prompt change to the temp directory by typing 'cd\windows\tempor~1', followed by 'del index.dat' (without the quotes). To delete everything in this folder type del *.*

You can also clear this folder by opening explorer, going to internet options under tools and clicking delete internet files button

I renamed the index.dat to index.txt
then deleted the index.txt
The system built a new index.dat file on reboot
