I am currently doing a website for a family friend and I am having a problem...

If you have a look at the site here (http://stuartw.orconhosting.net.nz/press_f1/website/) (I am still building the site, so none of the link work) you will see their is a blue navigation bar with yellow link text,

The problem is when I do links in the white section of the site (The content area) (As you can see under “We are located at”), the links are also yellow (which is very hard to see!)

Want I would link to do is make the content (White area) link colour not yellow but another colour & also keeping the navigation bar links colour yellow.

Hope that’s makes sense :)

Can that be done??

I wont even comment on your code...

You could try

.style13 a {color:red}

Edit:..
relooking at your code you may also need this

a.style13 {color:red}

Here is a stylish script showing it working.

@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document url("http://stuartw.orconhosting.net.nz/press_f1/website/") {
.style13 a,
a.style13
{color:red !important;}
}

Nevermind?

Since the whole page is a table why not just make a cell for those 2 links and give the cell an a and a:hover style

:rolleyes: What’s wrong with the code? (I am using CSS now, compared to some of my older websites...)

Inline style sheet, never a good look.

Names like .style13 are meaningless.

The site is constructed with tables for layout, IMHO very bad.

Here is a few sites for you to look at, the templates are free, if I was you I would grab one of these to work with.

Is it possible with that code for the link to either as you move your mouse over it to turn to #00FFFF and then after some visit that link to turn to #FFCC00;

Can that be done??

I guess applying vlink should do that colour trick?

Nope - it's a:hover and a:visited.

Whats with those google ads at the top of the page? You may want to remove those, as they really spoil the website. If you are putting ads on a website, you are best to put them with the content, so to compliment the website, rather than sticking out like a sore thumb, like it currently does.:2cents:

They are not my google ads at the top of the site, their Orcon ads (They force them on to your site). (I am using Orcon Free hosting, which they discounted a while back)

Go with a cheapish host then, they only cost a few bucks a month really and you get much better support than your isp's server

For what I use the hosting for, it’s not worth paying $$ a months for something I can get for free with an annoying ad at the top of the page.

Do I have to use both
.style13 a {color:red} &
a.style13 {color:red} together???

nope, they're essentially the same thing

a being alink, i think just the formattin of your stylesheet just makes things messy

nope, they're essentially the same thing...

They're not the same thing at all. "a.style13" means "a link with the class 'style13'" (e.g. <a class="style13" href=...) ".style13 a" means "a link inside something else with the class 'style13'" (e.g. <div class="style13"><a href=...)

Amazingly, Trademe still uses tables for layout - I guess it works, but I'm surprised that they're still doing it that way.

Eh? I wasn't talking about inline stylesheets at all - that's actually the only form of CSS my comment *doesn't* apply to.

Stu - your type says "centre" = NZ English.

The balloon above the whale says "center" = U.S. English.

Internationalism is all very well, but this is not the place for it.
Pick one style & stick with it.
