Is it possible to change the colour in the background of a cell depending on the value in the cell?

For example, I want to have a red background if the value in B26 is greater than 4.8 and Green if it is less than 4.8.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

Yes, You can do this,

Click on the cell you wish to format, and select Format, Conditional formating.

This will then allow you to set the format according to a calue in the cell or another cell. Leave your email address here if you would like further help

(I am currently using excel 2000, but have access to earlier versions if you need)

Many thanks Trent. That is pretty easy isn't it. Having used excel since version 1 back in the 1980's I should have known it, but I get tired of battling with the help system these days.

Your response saved me a lot of time and hassle

many thanks
