View Full Version : Need correct chrome download

I download what I thought was google chrome. However, it just turned out to be a file that tried connecting to the internet to 'install' chrome. The problem is that computer is on vodafone (slow when it used to connect, expensive, unreliable). So using this computer on broadband I downloaded chrome again (must have deleted the previous file). But on running it automatically downloaded and installed with no warning. So uninstalled since the owner has no intention of using chrome. Back to round 1,

Well the smaller file, is the file google usually lets you download.

It downloads the rest off the net

Other programs do the same thing. ie: (Yahoo, windows messenger)

Unless you can find the bigger install file. Which will install all of the program, so you wont have to wait for the rest of it

So, if the owner doesnt want it, whats the point in getting it in the first place?

So you want the standalone file, that installs from that, rather than having the downloaded file download the actual installer?

Google Chrome standalone installer for a download :)

speedy, do you think before you speed? The download is not for the computer that the file was downloaded on. It was downloaded on that particular computer because of the speed and reliability of the internet connection to be installed on a computer that has a slow/unreliabe connection. The computer the download is for will handle the program just too expensive to download files.

Stop messing around and get this portable version, I always get it from this source, don't be put off by German it is in English:

It doesn't auto update and seems quite stable to me, I use it all the time. Once you have this url you can update every now and again to the latest version.

This is the link you want:

Download Portable Google Chrome

He doesn't want the portable version, he wants an offline installer for chrome.

The problem is that Google doesn't care and if you want to use their program you have to use it their way, and by that you have to install their stupid updater.

It is more useful in the portable version than installed from Google, try it if you don't think so.

The version you installed has privacy issues, JaceKiwi.
