until recently I was able to set my comp's network IP as 192.168.01 and I let windows assigned IP for the other comp, in order for internet connection sharing to work. The IP I get for the second comp was always

But recently for some reason, the random IP changes to something else (, I can still transfer files and all that .... but when I tried benchmark my network using Sisoft Sandra, I get an error msg saying it cannot obtain the IP. How can I get it back so that it's 192 168 0 2 again?? And I can't assign it manually as ICS won't work with it.... plz help/

Check your clients TCP/IP settings still have 'Use DHCP for Wins enabled, disable Wins, get IP address automatically', and the Gateway address is that of your Server - reboot the clients and check the ip's gain using 'winipcfg'

If the addresses are still out of the 192.168.x.x private address range check your subnet mask is

If still no go you can manually aissgn the IP on each machine by disabling DHCP and making the IP address, 3 etc

As long as the Gateway is the Server the Internet traffic will still find its way through and ICS should function.

You didn't say the OS and Internet medthod. IHUG Ultra is a bit tricky.
