I get a zipped program.
When I open the zip I have one exe file. This exe installs the program which may contain nimerous folders each with it's files.

Is there any way I can "get at" the included files without installing the whole program?

No, because even if you could the program would prob need registry values/keys to run...

You would need to be able to reverse engineer the .exe. Possible but requires some coding skills.

Don't want to run it. Just want to change a file or two.

Found This here (http://www.legroom.net/software/uniextract) - says it will extract the contents - cant vouch for it - never tried it, YET ;)

EDITED: Does work - heres the contents of Ccleaner (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Ccleaner1235198958.jpg) as well as the original exe file.

Then to repackage it again after altering what ever - if using XP open "Run" type in iexpress.exe that opens hidden program in XP that allows you to make exe files.

may or may not work

unzip to root level of C:\

go to a cmd prompt

typein unziped.exe /? where unziped is replaced with the actual exe name.

the software writter may have given the installer some switches and this method sometimes reveals those switches

Some self extracting files could be opened with 7zip (http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/7-zip_portable) (See attached photo)

I suppose it depends on what they used to package the program.
