Good Evening everyone,

With wireless Technology in mind, I am planning a move to broadband with Telecom and as part of the plans they are offering, I have considered a wireless pc kit. The kit includes a TG585 wireless gateway device etc.

My question though, can I use this router: Linksys G Wireless Modem and Router to subsitute the modem which Telecom will provide for me, or do I need to have both in order to get connected?

If I can get away just using this router as my main broadband connection, then maybe I can look at Slingshot as my I.S.P due to costs are similar for the plan type in comparisom with Telecom, and also greater speed and larger data allowance, far greater to what Telecom is offering.

If there are some Slingshot customers out there who have feedback about the broadband service, this would be helpful for me. I do alot of research and downloading extensive and large documents on my dialup, as to explain the need for a larger allowance and the concept to move onto broadband.

I appreciate any feedback users may have,

Regards
Nimrod

Just for your information

I have two computers at home in separate rooms, with only one Telephone jackpoint.
Both do not have Wireless Technology in built - PCI Card is my cheapest option at the moment; not enough usb devices available for both computers
Would consider using a router with (n), technology but buying (g) devices are cheaper for me at the moment.

Welcome to PressF1

Yes that Linksys router would work perfectly fine with a Telecom connection.

Yes that linksys will do fine.
better than the firmware crippled thing Telecom would send you.

And others will probably leap to their defense but I would avoid Telecom altogether.
