Haven't nay of you tested Comodos AV part? I just saw Speedys "probably crappy" comment.

I haven't actually installed it on anyones PC yet but I though some of you had tried it out when it came out?

Shall I do a test on the next infection that comes in then?

Hadn't really thought about it - May do a test as well - install comodo with AV - Scan, uninstall then drop in Nod32 - see what turns up.

Always better to have several real world tests from people who see these sort of thing all the time.

I have used Comodo Security on my lap top & Desk top, both running xp pro.
It is excellent, both the AV and the Firewall are very active, infact until it settles down it can be a paranoid pain! Updates are always automatic, fast and successful.
I was using Avast & Zone Alarm before but the lap top (Eeee 7010 had an issue with that combination.

Um, real world testing of an infected PC is what I want. Thats the only way to see.

Well I can honestly say Comodo Av is still CRAP!!

Just finished a real test - customers PC infected to the point of not booting, not even in safe mode ( copied drive first) - original Drive attached to Workshop PC as a slave.

Had Comodo installed and fully updated - Comodo Scan results (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Comodo_Results.JPG) -- removed Comodo, installed Nod32 - rebooted, updated Nod - At 4 % through scan (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/4_Percent.JPG) - then at Completion (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Nodfin.JPG) -- I did check the scan record of Comodo compared to Nod32 -- Comodo = 50% miss - Maybe they should stick to Firewalls only.

What I have found in the past is when slaving Antivirus software doesn't always get it all, but I cant run Nod on the actual system as its to badly damaged to even boot.

Edited: out of Interest - the customer did have Bitdefender Installed.

er............NOD found 25 threats.
Comodo found 25 threats.

What did it miss or did it not clean them?

I've found these:
http://www.spycar.org/Spycar.html

http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

My NOD got very upset and blocked them. Must try them at work next week with other resident stuff and see how they do.

(note the sites are safe - its just testing)

The drive was first scanned with Comodo- it removed 25.

The same drive was then scanned after Comodo was run and Nod found a further 25 - so thats at least 25 that Comodo missed.

Normally I would then load Nod into the infected drive, and rescan, BUT the OS is so knackered from the infections it gets in an endless reboot, even in safe mode.

Might take another copy of the original infected drive, and slave/scan only with Nod to see what the final count is.

I tried a repair install but it gets stuck at 21 % and wont go any further.(left it for 2 1/2 hours sitting @21%)

That eicar test site is the one I use to demonstrate what Nod will do - it wont even allow the files to download - kills them dead. Nod did its thing OK ( Just had to test it  ) Test download (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Spy.jpg) -- Might reload Comodo tomorrow and try that on the workshop PC---- As they say - stay tuned.
