When I try to put a disk into my DVD rom drive I get the dreaded blue screen saying that EXCEPTION OE @ 0028:C182EEB3 IN VXD SCSI1LP(03)+00000583: CALLED FROM 0028:C182EE38 IN VXD SCSI1HLP(03)+00000508.
Have tried removing drive in device manager and restarting but no different. Have tried holding shift while inserting a CD, to stop auto-run, then when I click on my comp the comp either crashes, freezes-up or blue screens and will not respond, have to reset comp with reset button. This just happened when I tried to use the may PC World CD. not sure if the drive is at fault or it is a software prob.

Thanks for any help
Ricky

Ok I think I had a very similar error message when I got my pc back from a repair shop, the blue screen would come up when I tried accessing the cdrom, what i did was go into bios on startup and saw that the cdrom was set up as primary slave so I changed the settings to no primary slave and now the cdrom works fine, give that a try it might work and you can always change the settings back if it doesn't.
