Hi, I am about to order parts to self build. :D

With the HDD setup. I thought:
1x SATA for the software (internal).
1x eSATA for the photographs (external). To prevent risk when not used it is turned off.

Also, 1x eSATA backup HDD used only once in the blue moon.

Is this ok, from my understanding eSATA is the same speed as internal SATA?

I decided not to get RAID. Mirror may backup my own mistakes. Stripe the risk may not be worth the gains. So I will just use 2x HDD separately and the 3rd as a backup drive.

Regards :)

i think so, SATA and eSATA are both SATA and SATA is for HDD and HDDs are supposed to be fast enough for pcs

An excellent idea.

Although I'm not sure how a person builds oneself.......
