When I try to install Windows 7 Beta 1 from a burned DVD, it comes with an error saying install.wim didn't exist, but it does (\sources\install.wim). What's going on? :waughh:

Looks like this can happen if it was a bad download / corrupted

You may have to re-download it

Did you burn it to a dvd - / + blank?

I burned it to a DVD+RW. Guess I'll just have to use a different ISO.

Your download must be corrupted then. Have you done an MD5 checksum on your ISO image to make sure it's the same as what it's supposed to be?

I used the exact same ISO in a virtual PC without problems. I'll try extracting the ISO and install it from the hard drive.

EDIT: Nope, that didn't work either. Looks like I have to redownload. :crying

Dunno how to look that up. :p

I re-downloaded it, and it's still not working on my Vista PC. However, it seems to be working on my Dell PC :stare:

Is my DVD drive at fault?

Could be. Do you have any problems reading any other DVDs using that drive?

When burning the DVD, I got several errors from ImgBurn when verifying. ImgBurn on another Vista PC didn't have this problem and verified fine.

Normally you DONT have to verify while burning. It just takes longer to burn

I've never verified anything when I burn. If it doesnt work after, then I know something is stuffed

Which version are you downloading, 32bit or 64bit?
I am currently getting the 64bit version

32-bit. Last I checked the "bad" ISO installed fine on my Dell PC. I would say the DVD drive is at fault.

I've got some swapping to do. :D

Thats the problem you get with CUSTOM built $500 machines. Installed fine on your Dell and is running fine on my mac:xmouth:

It uses Japanese parts. Plus, the DVD drive in it now was originally in my Dell PC (as a replacement drive).

I got it installing! All I did was put the DVD drive from the Dell PC into the other PC and used that drive instead. :D
