What is the difference between the versions of vista,as in: basic, premium business(whatever).I have been offered a new pc with vista premium but do I need that over basic(any advantage?)Also is there any point in going for the 64 bit version of vista for a home pc

Here's the diff (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/compare-editions/default.aspx)

Unless youre planning on using more than 4 GB, 32 bit should be good enough

Vista Home Basic does not offer many of the features (such as attractive transparent borders and Aero effects), so if the machine can handle it (ie has a dual/quad core processor and >1GB RAM), get Home premium over Basic. It's much better value for money.

If the machine has >3.5GB of RAM, you'll need 64-bit Windows to see all of it, as Speedy said :)

Sounds good to me Pete.

It depends if youre planning on getting more ram later. If youre not I would stick with 32 bit
