Opera has the option of disabling animated images.
Does Firefox have this? Perhaps a plug in?

Type about:config into the address bar and find the image.animation_mode option. Change it's value to 'none' to stop animations altogether, or 'once' to have them play only once.

Edit: That's if you mean animated gifs and such.

Or if you mean flash animations then download FlashBlock.

Thanks. Yes - animated gifs, not flash - I already have AdBlockPlus.

[edit - later] It works. Now no more annoying avatars on KiwiBiker. But it would be nice to have a quick option button to turn the gifs back on as in Opera. I'll have a look in FF plug ins.

Maybe an add-on like this?:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2025

Looks good but: "This add-on is for older versions of Firefox" - not for FF3. :(

If you really wanted that add-on then just force add-on compatibility :D

Hi guys,
I came across an indispensable tool for the job called Prefbar (http://prefbar.mozdev.org/installation.html). This tool enables you to disable images (either static or animated), Flash animation and JS with the tick of a box!

I like having everything in one package - oh, and it supports version 3.0 of the browser..
