Gee, I hate those smug 'experts' that like to scare the hell out of the unwashed without really educating them (seen on 'Closeup' tonight). No wonder I still get people scared to do anything on the Internet.

It looked liked the test machines had routable IP nos, although they didn't say so, and were badly unpatched. Just a NAT router would have done wonders with this so called expose.

PCAuthority magazine tested Internet exposure on ordinarlly protected systems and found it pretty hard to get infected in spite of going to dodgy sites. But we didn't hear about this.

Grrrrr!!

people overreact to the "dangers" of the internet, didnt seen closeup....so im a little lost at what it was about

I missed it... but you'd be surprised, the FUD isnt just limited to computers, but things like global warming, economic crisis...

Actually with no protection at all it is fairly easy to get infected.
I waited for the what to do part:
MS fixes (Yeah right)
$130 "protection" package. 3 guesses what that probably is.

A friend rings me up and says "Help, I cant get Security Suite product X installed .. Ive been offered a free trial for X-amount of time"
