Speedy Gonzales

Opera was ok till they decided to tweak it, so it went faster

Now it takes forever to load a site

Sometimes you have to press enter more than once, so it moves

FF & IE7 Pro - use both, depending on what I'm doing.

Some MS tech sites simply wont work as they should on FF.

Firefox. I don't even have access to IE on my PC (well, I sorta do :)), as IE Tab is good enough.

All modern web browsers do a reasonable job, there is nothing wrong with IE 7 and this poll just indicates that members here are aware of alternatives.

World wide IE is still used on over 75% of computers.

On a PC I use IE mainly but also FF at times

On a Mac I use Safari mainly but also FF as well.

They all work well and do what a browser is required to do.

First of all, IE 7 is slow as hell. It also has no add-ons and just opening a new tab takes ages. It also doesn't render some pages very well. Did I mention it was slow?

IE DOES NOT work well.

Rubbish beeswax - it works fine otherwise the majority would not use it.
Most people are not interested in add-ons or using tabs.
There is very little difference with the speed of any of the modern browsers, talking about a few seconds difference here and who is really concerned about that.

I'm concerned. The faster the better.

+1 for Safari (The post #25 -- Not the browser) ;)
Speed differences are minimal these days, in fact as hard as it is to admit, IE loads faster than Firefox for me on a freshly installed XP, just formatted 4 hours ago... Chrome starts up the 2nd fastest..

In terms of page load times, its negligible to be honest.
It'd be like me trying to convince the masses to use Gentoo Linux because its all compiled from source and is super-fast! Sure its a *bit* faster if you REALLY had to look for it, but all up most people will never actually notice.

Maybe they are not but it is nice to have those options available for geeks like us who do use them. I really miss the customisations I have made on my Opera when I have to use other people's computers.

Remember, too, that people often don't really know how to use tabs and other features and therefore do not know how useful they are until shown, then they wonder how they got along without them in the past.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what people use as long as they are happy with what they have chosen. And if you don't try something new then how do you know whether you might like it better or not?

Rubbish, most people use it because it comes with Windows and they aren't aware of the alternatives or their workplaces only allow IE.

Little difference? FF blitzes IE on most sites including MS.com ironically. And yes, a few seconds do matter. I open around 800-1000 tabs a day and even 2s of delay adds up.

Like FF for the speed and features and customization.
IE for um....nothing? I removed it with vlite:D
Safari for interesting looks
Opera for having every feature in the world
Flock for socialisation

Chrome after Firefox started crashing lots. For those of you who say IE is fine - I timed a particular page loading in IE: 1 minute 57 seconds. Firefox: 37 seconds. As the Americans would say - period.

Yup 3.1 of FF is in beta. I see Opera 10 alpha is out and about too. Which by the looks of it, passes the acid 3 test, (if anyone cares) 100%

For web based gaming, I prefer IE8. Used Firefox, but like a new toy, I slowly got sick of it.

I do still use Firefox occasionally, for some addins.

Opera gets my vote.
Well designed, its fast and rarely has any security problems(which seem to get fixed very, very quickly). Another benefit is that its market share is small enough to make it a lesser target for bad boys. On second thoughts I withdraw my vote.:D

GameJunkie
06-12-2008, 11:45 AM
is opera faster than chrome though?

PPp
06-12-2008, 12:39 PM
Fast enough, its probably subjective as net connection speeds change constantly, and other factors other than your browser effect your experience. Probably the best test is to use both for a while. I have found its certainly not slower than other browsers I've tried (haven't tried Chome yet).

GameJunkie
06-12-2008, 02:05 PM
got opera 9.62 and it seems to me to be just as fast as FF 3.0.4

Speedy Gonzales

Opera 10 Alpha and any other browser will be a LOT faster, once you install Privoxy

It'll block everything for you

GameJunkie
06-12-2008, 02:11 PM

Speedy Gonzales
06-12-2008, 02:15 PM
Ive just installed it. Seems to be fine so far. At least it loads sites faster than 9.62
