hi all,

i have an audio CD which was working just fine in my dad's car CD player.

all of a sudden it won't work there any more, but it plays on my PC when inserted and when put into two different stereos.

this has me stumped:confused:.

Have you tried a different Audio CD in the Car, just in case the Player is at fault?

yes, it is part of a two disc set, disc 1 plays fine but not disc two which is the problem.

try giving it a clean with something like isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth / tissue or some sort of CD cleaning fluid, could be something on the CD surface that is causing it not to read.

What you can also do is copy the original CD and see if the copy plays OK.

Are you sure that the second disc isn't a video or DVD disc?

i'll try that wainuitech.

zippity: when i put it on my itunes it shows the icon import cd, and it shows up in mycomputer as an audio cd.

as i said it used to work now it doesnt.

Clean the centre of the CD, that's where the TOC (table of contents) hides and if it gets a bit greasy from fingers or grease-creep from the heat in the car it may not play.

It is not necessarily common knowledge that CDs and DVDs play from the centre outwards and this has worked for a few of my CDs.

found some contact cleaner, would that do the job?

What "contact" cleaner? I would just use mild dishwash liquid in water if they are greasy or just plain water and a soft cloth if not. Wipe from the centre of the CD outwards, not round and round.

Try to find a micro fibre cloth if you can. Anyone with a pair of glasses with have one.
Clean out from the middle, outwards, not in a circle

i might just re-burn the disc
