Selling for $999 at Newbolds.

I have a Bravia 32" LCD as my main TV - want this one for the bedroom - not sure how it compares?

Won't be quite as good, the Sony has a better picture but for $999 new, thats pretty good, fine for the bedroom.

Friends of mine recently got a 40" Sony V series off trademe for $1000, maybe you could have a look on trademe for a good deal on a 2nd hand Sony?

A quick browse on TM shows plenty of brand new Sony S, U and V series TVs going for $1000, or 2nd hand ones for $600 - $1000.

It's not to bad, but it won't play 1080p full hd as the resolution (1336x768) isn't big enough. However it doesn't really matter at the moment as most hd footage is ok for that tv. It should be ok for the bedroom.

Sony and Samsung panels come from the same factory (they have a joint venture together) but I think I prefer the Sony firmware slightly better. Colours are brigher (due to a different backlight I think) and motion is slightly better (motionview).

Me too-but in the recent consumer mag the Samsung 32" was slightly better than the Sony 32" in terms of image and sound quality;)
