Recently got a Pinnacle PCTV USB Stick. TVCenter Pro works but because there's no decoder card/box involved, the CPU runs at 95-100% :horrified: - got blue screens a few times. Anyway.. is there an alternative to TVCenter that is compatible with a Pinnacle stick? Or some way to transfer some of the decoding processes to the GPU? Really need something as system becomes way unstable when I'm watching TV. CPU usage starts spiking too and that just kills the playback. :badpc::dogeye:

cheers

I assume this is for FreeviewHD? If so, you'd be best to use DVBViewer with an appropriate codec, which will let you offload the decoding to a compatible graphics card. I've got a relatively low-end nVidia 8500GT card which does the job just fine - my cpu usage sits around 2-3% while watching FreeviewHD.

Tried MediaPortal before, it says no video capture card(s) found, you won't be able to configure blah blah blah...

it doesn't matter, dvbviewer, media portal or gbpvr, but they're all direct show based, so to get hardware decoding you need at least an nvidia 8500 and higher card.

Sorry I don't know the equivalent ATI one, but did know for a while they were having issues with hardware acceleration.
