Hi all,my Creative Fatal1ty 1010 mouse has decided to crap out. The left click only works when it wants to and sometimes it double clicks just for the heck of it!

So Im going to replace it, any suggestions as what to replace it with? Any suggestions would be most helpfull

I like the looks/specs of the Logitech G5 (http://ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=9352580)

Just got a G5 on the weekend its a nice mouse, although it would be nice if you got more options for mapping the thumb buttons.

I wouldn't think it would be very accurate, being optical.

You should either stick with the G5 or get M$ sidewinder

I still have a Microsoft/Razer Habu. I tried a Sidewinder mouse but they are pretty lumpy mice - and just a fraction too much for my hand (which is average size I reckon). So I couldn't rest my wrist comfortably and still work the mouse.

Some people don't rest their wrists on the mousepad though and instead use their entire forearm to work the mouse. If you are one of those people then a Sidewinder might be good. A nice package too - a little box which doubles as a weighted cable anchor and a container for the mouse weights and interchangeable feet (you get a choice of three different foot materials.)

Can't go past the G9
Ugly little bugger but damn does it perform.

Check it out.

There is no other mouse apart from the G5 - all others are lame attempts at disguising a dog-sh*t as a mouse.

G5 look very similar to my MX510.

Looks similar, but still a disguised dog-sh*t.
The G5 is definitely the best and highest-precision gaming mouse on the market.

Well, The MX510 has been off the market for a number of years.

That aside, if you think all the marketing crap makes your mouse more precise then great, But you can only be as precise as the amount of pixels on your screen, and even optical (which had all the same buzz-words as laser when it was the "in" thing for the kiddies to wet themselves over) was far ahead of the maximum usable input.

I found a $18.00 Steelpad Steelseries mousepad (which is made of cloth..) made more difference to my gaming than an expensive mouse. Mice just glide over it with just enough friction for controllability. Has lasted very well too - considering the mileage my mouse puts in on it.

Ive decided on getting either the Logitech G5 or G7 because they seem reasonably priced and both seem to have good reviews on them.

Which one should I go for?

I just used to get $5.00 plastic Pudney mousepads from Noel Leeming and replace them every couple of months. Getting a gaming mousepad after those was a revelation.

I've got an MS Sidewinder now since looking at this thread. TBH, it hasn't made too much difference in my gaming.
