1. Is it safe to delete folders in Documents and Settings when that folder belongs to a deleted account?

2. I was browsing in c:\Program Files when I found these 2 files:

AcroPDF.dll
pdfshell.dll

They were in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX

I was unable to delete them. Just want to know what they are for?

3. I have 66 items in c:\, 20 Folders, 46 files.

Here are some images:

Can you give me any recommendations hw to clean these up?

4. How can you get rid of Windows Search?

Thanks

If you dont want anything, uninstall it, DON'T delete its folder.

It'll stuff things up

AcroPDF.dll and pdfshell.dll probably belong to Adobe reader. If you dont want it or use it, uninstall it FIRST.

The sqm files belong to Windows live messenger

Use ccleaner to remove the temp files etc

Uninstall Windows search

Speedy: I've uninstalled Reader and Acrobat a long time ago. They were left there

Should I delete *.sqm files? I don't have Windows Live Messenger anymore

How can I uninstall Windows Search? It's not in Add/Remove Programs?

Yup wont hurt if you delete the sqm files. If Messenger isnt installed now

Boot into safe mode then delete AcroPDF.dll and pdfshell.dll

You sure windows search isnt in add/remove programs?

What about windows desktop search?

I have no idea then, how to uninstall Desktop search. I've never used it

Try one of the options here (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=301681&SiteID=1)

Depending on which version is installed

It looks like you're not the only one, who's got this prob

1)Yes. Although not if its a shared folder.
2)Acrobat.
3)Delete them.

I would not delete folders and or files in the root directory of C:\ unless I knew for sure what they were. Especially if C:\ was the drive that boots.

System files are hidden by default. Anything else shouldn't even be in this location.

Maybe show hidden files is ticked.

You should be able to uninstall Windows Desktop Search via Add Remove Programs in Control Panel.
