The October DVD that comes with NZ PC World Mag still has many Essentilals that stop at XP compatible versions yet Vista compatible versions have been out for many months e.g Ad Aware , Spybot 1.6.

Also Adobe Reader has version 9 out and the DVD has version 8 .

Is there a reason for this?

I have emailed Scott(Barclay) twice but not had a response. I am still on Dial Up so using a DVD for updates is much faster than Internet Downlaods

The later versions probably werent released, when the mag was done.

Its similar to the Netguide mag. And probably every other mag.

None of their programs listed in the mag are up to date either. (Only diff is they dont have a cd, u have to go to their site for the link / or to download it)

Haha yeah-stupid adobe bloatware.
Use something like foxit (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/) instead

Wouldn't it be great of OpenOffice and M$ office had inbuilt pdf viewing capabilites:rolleyes:

Neither of the last 2 answers really helped the poster out as they don't want to download stuff but use what's on the disks and since foxit is not on theere they have small choice

With a bit of patience and a use of a download manager it shouldn't take too long on dial-up
It is only 2.55mb

froim Neil F . I use Filehippo.com for seeing what it is around and it provided details of a program called updatechecker which scans your Pc to see if later versions of software are available. i use it quite a lot.

I would personally never go back to Adobe, Foxit is fantastic.

The guy who built my computer installed it on my new machine, and wish I had known about it years ago.
