View Full Version : Unallocated space

Got into more strife trying to create more drives using Partition Manager and Vista. Have created 4 logical drives and 1 Extended Partition which has another 2 logical drives. But there is also an unallocaated drive of 109Gb (out of 500) which I cannot do anything with. Both PM and Disk Manager can see the partition but neither allow me to do anything with it. It's not showing as formatted, I can't merge it into any of the other drives. Nothing !!
Help required (and appreciated) please.

I think you have reached the limit of partitions you can have on a single drive.

Try right-clicking on a partition and selecting Extend Volume, then extending it into the 109GB part.

The "Unallocated Disk" is shown as FAT 16 but there is no way I can get to it to reformat it to NTFS as the others are

Have you tried doing it with gparted either standalone or from a live linux cd? Might do the trick or it might not, never used partition manager before so don't know how good or bad it is.
