My neigbs just said over the fence his laptop with a usb wireless adaptor found my wireless network.
The stink thing is that it wont work from one end of my small house to the other without dropping out. Had to run a network cable.
Did some measurements his place is over 4 times that distance.
I dont really need the wireless bit of it now because my old lappy has w98 and the wireless card keeps disconnecting. Known fault but dlink dont care about a fix.
I have unscrewed the aerial is that a good fix or not?
Thanks

If you are connected using LAN wire, you can deactivate the wireless by logging into your router to deactivate it.

Distance is only one of the factors affecting the signal.

Also to consider is:

The Quality of the receiver
Obstructions, such as walls, floors etc.
Other devices emitting, such as cordless phones, other wireless APs and even microwaves.
