Hi Everyone

I HAVE LOTS OF QUESTIONS TO ASK YOU

1. Is it safe to edit, delete or rename folder in Documents and Settings? Is it even safe to rename Documents and Settings?

2. How can you get rid of these programs:

• Ace Payroll Plus
• ArcSoft Panorama Maker 4
• Open Office (see this (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/open_office.org.bmp))
• Netscape Navigator
• WinZip E-Mail Companion
• Yahoo! Search Protection

3. What is the difference between Windows XP SP2 and Windows XP SP3?

4. Is there any desktop sidebar that is transparent and windows are able to go over it for Windows XP like Windows Vista’s one?

5. What desktop program is the best?

6. I have registered for Xdrive and I was wondering how you can upload a file to Xdrive using the Web Publishing Wizard?

7. When I do a bot-scan using Spybot Search & Destroy I always find this entry: Right Media:annoyed: . Spybot S&D tries to remove it and says it did but it didn’t and it always comes up in a scan. How can you fix this problem? If you want an image you can ask me.

8. When I use Disk Cleanup Utility and ask it to cleanup c: it shows Office Setup Files. But I found out that Office Setup Files were located on D: called MSOCache. So why does it says it’s on Drive C?

9. Is there any way that you can download updates at Windows Update site with a different “download manager” (e.g. Using FlashGet, not this? (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Windows_Update_01.bmp))?

10. I just downloaded SP3 for Windows XP and unfortunately, the file was corrupted. Take a look at this:angry (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/ERROR!.bmp). How can you fix this? Do I have to download it again? (It took me forever to download a 316.43MB file :angry )

11. Similar to question 10, how come Automatic Updates isn’t downloading SP3? Can I make it download SP3?

That’s all I have for now

Thanks!

1. Not really, it may screw things up

2. How are you uninstalling these programs??

If they refuse to uninstall delete its folder in program files and its folders in documents and settings. Then use ccleaner to remove everything else

3. A lot. Do a search for XP SP3 release notes on the MS site or in Google

4. Probably, I dont use one

5. Desktop program like what? Depends what youre talking about, and what kind of programs you like

6. Pass dont use it, read the FAQ on the site, if its got one

7. Look on the S&D site / forum. Someone may have posted that ?
Or post a ? yourself

8. Usually it is on C, well it is on here, Why its on D, I have no idea

9. I dont think you can use a download manager on the windowsupdate site.

If you want to use one go to the MS download site and download the file
manually

10. Did you wait for SP3 to finish downloading before you installed it?
If youre on dial,up request the cd from MS

11. It probably doesnt download SP3 as some people I think had issues If its similar to SP1 for Vista, if they were on dialup, if something went wrong, you were screwed.

1. As long as you know what you're doing its fine-i.e I use it to move .vbs files to quick launch and moving stuff to/from the start menu.
As to renaming them-you should get this error:"Documents and Settings is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be moved or renamed." Also,DO NOT DELETE IT

2. Use Revo to remove these thoroughly(link in signature). As for openoffice, run thishttp://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe and see if problem/error persists.

3. Differences? A service pack is basically a large collection of patches/ hotfixes, security updates and/or OS enhancements.
I am not sure what you mean by "differences" as SP3 just has newer updates that SP2.

4. Google sidebar or yahoo widgets-not sure about being "transparent" though.

5. Can you be more specific please? Do you mean desktop shell? Or desktop customization?

6. Not sure about this-I use Adrivehttp://www.adrive.com/static/storageplans_basic-it has 50gb and allows folder/directory uploading

7. RightMedia is not spyware. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_Media) It appears as spyware in Spybot S&D but it isn't I would worry about it.

8. Unless you are low on space, don't remove those files:

The Office Setup Files are used by Microsoft Office during program updates. If you visit http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate you can check for these free program updates to Microsoft Office by clicking the "Check for Updates" link.

Your computer may need the Office Setup Files to help apply those updates. If you don't have the Office Setup Files on your PC, the update process will ask you for your Microsoft Office install disks. The Office Setup Files are used to make updates easier. Without them you often have to dig up the install CDs when updating.

Unless you’re unusually low on disk space, I always recommend you leave the Office Setup Files on your computer. The increased convenience is worth it.

9. No, you cannot, unless you download the SP3 network installation kit (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displaylang=en)for IT professionals, which isn't recommended for individuals.

10. You downloaded the wrong file-You should had download SP3 through Windows Update, not the installation kit above.

11. Try downloading Dial a Fix, it may fix your update problems

Mathsgood: Next time when you post a screenshot, it would be advisable to save it as .JPG rather than .BMP as a courtesy for dial-up users.

Cheees :)

Or ring them tomorrow

On 0800 800 004. Or visit them (http://smaps.co.nz/nz/auckland/auckland+central/viaduct+harbour+avenue/22/)

Ring them first to see if they do have the CD's

Or drop in if youre near Mt Eden. Bring a blank cd with you. I'll burn the SP3 ISO

Rightmedia:
http://www.spywareremove.com/removeRightmedia.html

Right Media, Inc. is an online advertising company that operates the Right Media Exchange (RMX), a marketplace that enables advertisers, publishers, and ad networks to efficiently trade digital media. Technology providers develop services for the Exchange via APIs. Right Media also operates an online ad network called Remix Media.

On 30 April 2007, Yahoo! announced the acquisition of Right Media[2].

Right Media appears as Spyware in the program Spybot - Search and Destroy

Personally I would let Spybot remove it.
