Do u mind having a look at this site and tell what memory I should be looking for and logically how much should I upgrade to without being being excessive.At present I have 256mb

Doesnt matter, as long as its 333 by the looks of it, and it doesnt go over 2 GB.

If you want that much.

But if you want 2 GB, you'll have to ditch the 256mb and get 2 1 GB sticks

Altho how much ram you use or need, may depend on what version of Windows is installed, on the laptop

Since anything under Windows 2000 doesnt like more than 1 GB

Well you can get 2 x 512 or 2 x 1 GB.. Which is the max

512mb is really the minimum to run XP comfortably.

I don't put less than 1GB in any (XP) PC now..........The more the better.
