View Full Version : ISP Blocking website?

My ISP is World Exchange.
I have tried going to www.isohunt.com and the page constantly says 'connection interrupted' on both my PC's. Other websites are fine.
I then managed to browse to the exact same website by turning off wifi on my iPhone and only utilising the 3g connection through Vodafone.
Is my ISP blocking this website and are they allowed to? The website to the best of my knowledge is not illegal.

Hmm. Not sure if it's their place to block websites that aren't illegal. I wonder how my phonecall to World Exchange will go?

Going to a manual proxy address in FF has solved the problem

Which ISP? Let's start a list.

Don't allow www.isohunt.com - World Exchange (Xnet),

Do allow www.isohunt.com - Telstra Clear,
Woosh,
Xtra,
Vodafone,
Slingshot

Everybody happy?

I'm also with Xnet, just checked and I can't connect either. Looks like Xnet are censoring that site. We're not in China are we?

The connections are crap in the evening now too. Torrent users? I'll check for any threads on that here first.

I'm on xtra, can't access adobe.com, hardwaresecrets.com and probably some others, but they work fine through proxy.

You can try any PC with any OS and any router on my connection, but those sites can never be viewed.

I'm still gathering the courage to call xtra because I know I will have to explain for an hour about how it's NOT the fault of any of my systems

isohunt works again on Xnet?!
Maybe someone at Xnet got a little overzealous, then they realised this isn't China and no other ISP was doing what they're doing?
I could be wrong.
