Disable zonealarm, that could be stopping programs from updating.

Since its affecting more than 1 program.

I would also tick this if you didnt do it

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

NZHawk
07-08-2008, 04:11 PM
tried without ZoneAlarm - no go
removed O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

try again: still not.

Should I give this a go pulling the hard drive out & scan as a slave on a clean system?

Speedy Gonzales
07-08-2008, 04:15 PM
Try trojan remover <- direct link (http://www.simplysup1.com/download/dl/trsetup.exe) , install it, see if that updates

Then click on scan and then select all options under utilities

Did malwarebytes pick anything up?? Has it finished scanning?

NZHawk
07-08-2008, 04:21 PM
just finished 33 objects infected

Speedy Gonzales
07-08-2008, 04:21 PM
Remove them, then reboot then try

NZHawk
07-08-2008, 04:38 PM
removed rebooted installed Trojan Remover - still no update capabilities.

Thank you very much but I have a meeting I need to attend. I will need to pick up on this Friday am.

NZHawk

How is it that AVG can update & I can browse the internet but can not update Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, TrojanRemover...

Would I be better to back up the data & reformat?

Speedy Gonzales
08-08-2008, 08:45 AM
Thats a good question

Well you cant really copy programs and put them back later. Reinstall them after

Just copy / save email addresses / word docs / text files etc

Before you install programs / whatever next time check in google to see what it is / and what it does. Especially things like codecs
