Hi all

Have a wee problem on my work PC (and several others!). When opening Word 2003 I get the following error:

"Error: (429) ActiveX component can't create object
Procedure: modPublic.Autoexec".

Click OK and it goes away and Word works fine.

I think it has something to do with an invalid registry setting. But don't really know. I have tried the 'fixes' from the Microsoft Technical site with no joy. Have uninstalled Word - then reinstalled it. Uninstalled Office - then reinstalled it. All with no joy.

Have also tried a registry repair program which finds LOTS of errors, but can't repair them unless I but the software.

So in short, does anyone know of some free registry repair software? Or a fix for this error?

We are using WinXP Pro. SP2

Cheers

Read this (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828550)

Or uninstall office again, delete its folders, then use ccleaner to remove the invalid entries. Then reinstall it

Thanks Speedy

That page was my first port of call.

Seeing that its not really my problem (our company has IT support staff) I will not worry too much about this just now...........

I think we are migrating to Office 2007 soon anyway.
