How can I get Windows XP setup to recognise my hard drive, it stopped working so I put Ubuntu on it to see if my hard drive was ok, and it is, and I copied all my files to another partition (the linux one) and then went to format the xp partition and reinstall xp, but when I run setup it gives me an error message saying that it needs a hard drive with at least however much space, so I'm guessing it doesn't recognise my hard drive. HELP!!!

It sounds like the machine is running a SATA hard drive in AHCI mode.
You will need to go into the BIOS and change the SATA mode to IDE.

How much space is left on the hdd / how big is it?

It doesnt sound like its not detecting the hdd.

It's detecting it, but there's not enough space (left on the hdd), to install XP on it.

Is the HD damaged and/or has been repaired?
