Anybody know how I can block the Flash Animations at the bottom of the main screen of Windows Live Messenger?

Cheers

Hmm Avast picks it up as a trojan. I dont know if its a false + or not

So it may not be a good idea to run it

Yea don't trust it after looking around at the website and scanning of the download I'd say Avast is right.

I've been using it for the past 5 years .A-patch.I just downloaded the file now and no it is not a trojan.Using Nod here...

It is save to use A-Patch .It is pretty much known to most people who are computer literate

or you can try the mess.be patch which is the same as A-patch but made by a different person

I use messpatch (from http://www.mess.be - make sure you find the right one for your version of messenger) to remove ads and other unwanted features and also use msgplus (http://www.msgplus.net/ to add extra ones)

Never tried A-patch, looks good though. Avast could be picking up a bundled "sponsor" program or something - messenger plus has one but you can choose not to install it if you so wish.

Or it could be detecting code that is used to modify the messenger executable. Lots of reasons to be detected as a virus when it's not

I've use Apatch for years. Great program, definitely not dodgy. NOD32, AVG, Spyware Terminator and SUPERAntiSpyware have no issue with it
