I have a NEC Versa E3100 laptop with 512Mb and have been advised that DDR2 533 PC4200 RAM should be used. Recommened brands are Infineon, Samsung, and Hynix.
Question 1. Should I only add another 512Mb stick or would adding a 1024Mb as well be acceptable? Total 1536Mb.
Question 2. I note that some sticks are a DIMM type, whilst others are SODIMM. What is the difference and does it matter?

Cheers
Gary

Basically SODIMM (small outline dual in-line memory module) is for notebooks, and DIMM (dual in-line memory module) is for desktops.

But it isn't always reported as that, I never worry about it. :p Just look for notebook RAM.

You'd be better off adding 1GB, the price difference between 512MB and 1GB DDR2 is bugger all these days.
