You probably need a codec
This is a good one

OK Thanks. What does a "Codec" Do? PJ.

A codec is a device or program capable of encoding and/or decoding a digital data stream or signal. The word codec may be a combination of any of the following: 'compressor-decompressor', 'coder-decoder', or 'compression/decompression algorithm

Basically it one or a series of little control file/s that recognize the encoding on a DVD

You shouldn't need to do any configuring.
Just install it then run your DVD with whatever player software you have.

A bit late, but:

(1) Short for compressor/decompressor, a codec is any technology for compressing and decompressing . Codecs can be implemented in , hardware, or a combination of both. Some popular codecs for computer video include MPEG, Indeo, and Cinepak.

It's not the hot bread & butter as does it. It is the fruit cake. And I have a neighbour to prove it!!! But then he is big all over. Best not to rile him.
