Hi there
Any good ideas to rid a now empty PC case of cigarette stink ??
I know that when I use it the fans will blow that stench all through the
room.

how in the world does cigarette stench get embedded in a metal case?

give it a good scrub outside?
Use that Frend or whatever it's called ('fresh air' spray)?

It's the dust in the case that causes it. I know exactly what your talking about.

Best thing to do is take most of the PC apart, clean out all the dust, especially the PSU and CPU fans/heatsinks. You'll want to take the case off the PSU, and clean all the dust out.

It's amazing how much cigarette smell a PC will retain.

Also take out any case fans and get rid of any dust stuck in between the fan and the case.

I have seen a PC, that spent a good 5 years in a smokers house, the chap had a pipe, and smoked perpetually. Within 10 mins of turning the PC on, the whole office smelled like an old ashtray.

Give it away to a smoker, they will not notice it.

Douse in petrol, stand well clear, and throw a lit match at it!

Use a clothes peg.

On nose, just in case you were putting it some where else.

To get rid of cigarette smoke, get your cat to do its business on it. :p

the other thing is cig smoke can soak into painted surfaces. have a look and smell of whiteware that comes out of a smokers house. you basicly have to sand the paint down to get rid of it.

It's a bit late now but don't smoke by the computer (http://stash.ableapp.com/here/smokers_keyboard.jpg).

Do what I do. Ignore it.

My problem is, how do I keep ash off the keyboard? Particularly when I type holdind a cigarette in my hand.

You can always take it into the kitchen when you are having a boiled cabbage or tripe or even better....boiled kidneys for dinner...works for me.

It will only need one treatment with the kidneys.

It's easy to ignore it when you need it to get your fix. For non smokers, it's absolutely disgusting, I think I'd just throw it out if it were me, I really can't stand the smell.

You can keep ashes of the keyboard by wearing patches when you type. If you're that heavy anyway.

Best way to ignore it is to get drunk!
