I've got Vista Home Premium and Office 2007 pro. Recently some cataclysmic event occurred to my Office install. If I click Start, then type in "excel" in the search, it finds "Microsoft Office Excel 2007" but when I click it, nothing happens.

Excel doesn't launch, no hourglass cursor - nothing.

Same if I click the Excel link in the "Recently used apps" list in the Start menu.

Ditto for any of the other Office apps.

If I click on "All Programs" and then navigate to the "Microsoft Office" program group, I can start any of the apps normally. It's just the recently used apps list, and the program search results, that seem to turn up dead shortcuts.

I've tried running Office diagnostics, doing a repair install, and applying Office SP1. All to no avail.

Has this happened to anyone else, and more to the point, has anyone found a solution??

Try launching the execuatble directly - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Excel.exe for Excel,
\Powerpnt.exe for PowerPoint,
\Winword.exe for Word,
\Outlook.exe for Outlook,
\Mspub.exe for Publisher
\Msaccess.exe for Access

etc etc...

If it launches then just recreate the shortcuts from the original EXEs. given above.
