Wondering if RAID is a good way to boost performance in a pc. I'm a computer techo saving for a computer that well...i want to absolutely leave my mates in the dust with

My plan is to take something none of them have done, i.e RAID and carry it out well.
I'm willing to shell out for 10000rpm hard drives, but first of all, do they make a difference in a top end pc.
Would RAID striping be effective in a gaming pc?
and if yes to the RAID effectiveness another question.
I install my games outside the operating system partition. So, would i be best to RAID hard drives i boot from, or the hard drives the games run from? or both?

the other thing that i don't think was mentioned is.. does your motherboard have onboard raid?
if not it may not really be worthwhile as pci bus tends to get flooded when running the latest hardrives in raid. ie the pci bus starts becomeing a bottle neck.
