Hi all,
Have need to remember a password I set to a MS Access database. I have searched all the freeware etc. for an asterix reader but the only one I found was a trial that only gave me the first two letters. This pointed me in the right direction but none of the combinations I use with that start configuration are working. Does anyone know of a freebee out there that may help?
Cheers,
Ken

the password is stored in plain text in the mdb file. do you have access to a linux computer or a linux live CD? you can use the linux command "strings" to list all human readable words in a file & that will get it.

An oldie I've used for "jogging my failing memory" on a number of occasions with asterix passwords is SnadBoy's Revelation (http://www.snadboy.com/)

try http://www.nirsoft.net/password_recovery_tools.html

your antivirus software will probably alert you. ignore it - it is just alerting you software is trying to look at your passwords.
