Its a friends computer .. it has been suggested to them that their computer is being monitored by NZ coppers. Is there anyway of telling if this is happening .. is there any way of stopping it/blocking it??

Exactly! :D

If they're being 'monitored', it's probably on their web traffic, so I think that's done in conjunction with the individual's ISP's.

Don't think the Police are using bots & zombies yet are they?

Nope, lol.

If they are being monitored, it's probably for a good reason.

If they haven't done anything wrong, stay away from the torrents and kiddie porn, and they should be sweet.

LimeWire isn't torrents, although you can use the latest version to download torrents. It's only illegal if you download illegal material, and I'm really not sure how your ISP could ping you for downloading with LimeWire, although I'm sure theres a way...torrents as long as you use packet encryption it isn't a problem, its the actual visiting of the sites that is, the only reason I said that was it would be better, if they are being monitored, that they don't do anything else dodgy lol.

So pretty much ignore what I said as it was really off-topic. :o

Well unless thay've taken to installing keyloggers, and unless he has an unsecured wireless connection, I fail to see how they can monitor anything except perhaps emails.

And I would imagine his ISP would have to tell him if he asked.

Weed huh..........well I've heard it makes you paranoid................

a keylogger would have to be installed on the system? YES?

key Loggers would normally be detected by GOOD antivirus or Antispyware.

The ISP Does have a record of every web site a person goes to, what time of the day, the amount of data and the IP address of that site. I can go onto Paradise ( my ISP) and Look Back as far as 2001 (http://www.imagef1.net.nz/files/Paradise.jpg) If I expanded those links out it tells you every thing.

The ISP would have to allow the police access to this information - and I would suspect they normally would have to have a court order or something like that.
