I have a problem outlined here (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-664346.html) and am hoping/wondering if someone may know the answer or have some ideas.

Had a similar problem and not too sure if it was solved when i installed Kooka instead of Xsane as I had a crash about the same time but when I recovered Kooka worked fine.

On startup it asks if I would like to use <blah> scanner and then after a long wait, the gui starts up and tells me I have no scanner :waughh:
Then I'm advised that I should install SANE :badpc:
