What version of Windows is installed tlab??

Welcome to PF1!

Does the entry for it, appear in device manager, and show as working?

Or is that the prob?

Ok, umm you did install the driver for it from the cd didnt you??

Not from the Windowsupdate site??

Are you on a network at home? On broadband?

1. If Nvidia firewall is installed, uninstall it.

2. You may have to remove the DSE card or disable it. To find out WHY the onboard LAN isnt working . Or to get the onboard LAN working properly.

But a few posts in the ASUS forum for this mobo say:

I powered off the computer and completely unplugged the power cord from the power supply. Waited a couple minutes, then re-inserted the ethernet cable before putting the power cord back in and powering the computer back on.

It automagically started working again. A dumb and simple fix, but it worked. Merely powering the pc off and back on didn't work

Looks like the above helped 5-6 people who were having the same prob as you.

And make sure the ethernet cable is in properly. Is the modem you're using a router, with more than 1 ethernet port??? If you are, you're not using a crossover cable are you??

If you are, plug the cable into the back of the router.

If you havent installed the drivers for it, thats why it isnt working.

OK. Strange you had to enable that option you ticked, for it to work.

With an external modem.

Have you given it ip addresses hardcastle??

Is the LED/light on the onboard NIC on or flashing?

This will tell us, whether its working or doing something

Look in Network places, I dont know where the entry for it is either. I'm not using Vista.

Haven't given it IP address? didn't know I had to...

The card does have the orange light on... means connected as far as I know...

In VIsta, using Network and sharing it cannot find any network hardware....
Also, System properties doesn't show anything for it... only my other speedtouch USB modem...
